Book II The Tapestry of Love Page 2

romantic…

living on the edge of fantasy.

  Where there’s hope there’s vision.

Where there’s vision there are dreams.

Where there are dreams there’s desire.

  Where there’s desire,

  passion is born.

  Where there’s passion,

  dreams are manifested…

  into something we can touch.

  LETTING IT GO

I stand on the edge and face the future,

while my past becomes a path of memories.

Never forgetting all that I have learned.

I do my best to keep clean the endeavors that I have endeared.

  The tears I have cried,

  the laughter I have shared,

and the friendships I have enjoyed,

the past returns when we least expect it.

  Like a book of memories,

  or an un-torn page,

  the past will always be.

It seems the older I get the larger my path becomes,

and the quicker the days become a part of my path.

I know that I will never endure as long as a mighty river,

or never be as wise as God.

But as I meet the past face to face,

  hold it in my hands,

I also know I must let it go.

  Like freeing a caged bird

I reach my arms up into the sky and set the past free.

Soon today will become the past,

  a part of my path.

  Tomorrow will become today.

Like a humming bird the now never stands still.

Like the caged bird I must let it too fly away,

never forgetting the things I've learned.

Carrying my path like a backpack on life's journey.

  CHARITY

Charity can be a day of hard work

  helping others along their way.

Charity can be a human hand

  touching another human hand.

  Charity can be someone's need

  of food being provided,

or the hunger for truth through the words of

  Jesus the Christ being shared.

Charity can be the giving of your time,

perhaps to an elderly person with so much love to give,

and no one to give it to.

To give silently your charity to them you do not know

without asking for anything in return

  is charity at its best,

  I am told.

  ANOTHER AND THEN ANOTHER

  My heart has been wounded.

  My soul has been scarred.

  Time and time after time.

  Wave and wave after wave.

  Tear after tear.

  Love stands before me.

Jesus… my spiritual guides… sits beside me.

  Love after time.

  Time after love.

  Goodness is in me.

  Angles surround me.

  Day before night.

  You before me.

  Time after time.

Day after day the demons are all around,

but luckily good angels surround me.

  You before me,

  and I shall wait.

What I'm waiting for only time can tell.

For I am one with a patient heart,

  so I sit and wait.

And with the day at its best,

  and me, not so smooth.

  You...

you're a friend to me as I am to you.

  Being next to you,

even in the state of mind I seem to be strapped within,

I feel as though your love is near.

I even feel as though it is here.

  Here I sit.

  Here I write.

  Here I am.

  Here I shall not stay.

  Even though I write away...

  Another... and I hear another,

as well see another wave come to splash

  against the sandstone rocks.

  Deep within...

I sit here wondering what you have in store.

  Here I am,

and again another wave has splashed

  against the sandstone shore.

Then I wonder why you made the sky so blue.

  Why you made the land,

  the sea,

  and why you made me.

  Here I sigh.

  Here I cry.

The ocean is somewhat like the sky.

  Large and green,

  but the sky is blue.

  Still they're like me,

how they change by the day.

Another…and then another comes to shore.

  Here... here comes more.

Even when I'm asleep at night,

my mind is on an never-ending flight.

  Dreaming of love…,you and I.

  She's the sky of blue.

Never stopping the sun from shining through.

Even on a cloudy day the light is there to help us on our way.

All the years are flashing by.

Every day I learn and try.

Sometimes when I sit here I only cry,

not for me but for the other guy.

  Here I am.

  I get up and dance.

I love to sing and play with romance.

I love the dreams that grow.

  Love the ocean,

  the sounds that it makes.

  Another wave,

  here comes more.

  Another and another,

I love my father and my mother.

I'm a lover of all humankind.

Even though my mood is sad.

Even though the day has been bad

I'll always thank you for the fun that I have had.

  Good days... Bad days...

I'll always remember it takes the bad days to

make the good ones appear so delightful.

  One... two... three...

a wave just splashed up against the sandstone rocks.

When it did it splashed on me.

A feeling of joy just entered my heart.

Another and then another just hit the shore.

Erosion will wash away the sandstone,

just as time will erode this body I dwell within.

Even though my heart has been wounded.

Even though my soul has been scarred,

and even though I feel Jesus has let me down.

I still hold my trust in him,

to lend me a hand so that I may stand.

  Day before night,

  or night before day.

Either way my love for you shall stay.

A bird has landed on the sandstone rocks.

Standing there at peace with itself.

Oh so lovely he or she looks.

Oh so freely its life must be.

  How gently it landed there.

Another one just landed…looking out at the sea,

  glancing over at me.

Life must be good to them.

  Two more just landed,

  now there are four.

  They stand there probably wondering

  about the ship passing by.

  They look so gentle,

and seem as if they get along well.

The people that are fishing down below them,

sometimes I'd rather be the birds above them.

  They fly so freely,

  not a worry... nor care.

And it wouldn't surprise me if not a day passed

  that they did not share.

  Mocking amongst each other,

they are probably glad they are there.

  Another and another,

  now seven in all.

In kindness they walk in peace with one another.

  In boldness they appear.

A boy below has just caught a fish.

May the Lord bless him for that wish.

Another and then another just left the shore.

Now there are only two birds

  standing on the sandstone rocks.

While I'm writing these words they too fly away.

I turn and look towards my other side to see three

more bird landing on the sandstone rocks.

  It must be the weather,

or could be the beauty of the sea?

  Time after time.

  Day after day.

  Wave after wave.

  Bird after bird.

  The good things,

  and even the bad.

  The joy of it all,

  my love for you,

and all that you have given us.

With my eyes closed I can see well.

With them open I pick up a seashell.

  Sun goes down,

  moon comes around.

  Day before night.

  Night before day.

Either way is all right with me.

For I am a lover of all humankind.

Even when the sea is wild,

  and my sky is gray,

  I shall always remember you.

The birds on the left of me,

  only one remains.

  Why it remains I haven't a clue.

Maybe... oh but now they're two.

  Must be love,

but then it could be the sun setting.

  The colors are bright,

and full of life from where we sit

my feet dangling from the sandstone rock.

I shall stay until the darkness appears.

My love for you is clear.

Perhaps the sound of the ocean will give me a clue,

but then again I'm confident your love will bring me through.

  THINK ABOUT YOU

I’ve written so many poems about you,

and though I mean what I say,

some of the lines are becoming rather trite.

So what else can I do to write something new about you…?

Humm… I can pick a flower or two from my garden,

  and think about you.

Or perhaps I can paint an abstract picture of an objective form,

and think about the dreams we’ve embarked upon lavishly.

I can even become as small as a ladybug and walk on a blade of grass,

or become a dragonfly and rest on a lily pad,

  and think about you.

  I’ve sat in a chair,

  drove my car,

  laid in my bed,

  and thought… about… you….

  What else can I say…?

Except that I quite often think about you.

And now as I sit here with my notepad and pen in hand,

  I smile… as I think about you.

  NOSTALGIA ENCOUNTERS

Things going on and they don't care.

I try to be only who I am.

We live and learn of whom to trust.

At times it's hard to be one’s self.

  They look,

  they may laugh.

  I don't even care.

Some think they know it all,

  but they don't.

I know me but then at times I wonder.

I try my best to be myself.

I listen to what I have to say.

  I love who I am,

and I know that at times I'm hard to understand.

I don't regret most of what I’ve done.

I’d love to share this day with you,

  but for the time-being

I’d rather stay here with my thoughts.

I turn the page of my photo album to another day in time.

My mind floats like a piece of driftwood.

  And one page after another…

  I’m enjoying yesterday’s highs…

on a raft of days gone by.
